A day out in Taunton (originally my birthplace)

Off to see my university friend for the day, which included a trip to a car boot sale that was not planned but was a bit off fun. Bought more items for the festival including a job lot of sparkly headbands, wellies (very important) and cupcakes (not again!)

We then went into town and instead of wondering about the main part of the town. We wondered over a bridge and into the part of the town I like to call the charity shop lane/street. As you can guess it so full of charity shops!
Some expensive (for some crazy reason..how dare they!) and some with brilliant bargains. One in particular was Banardos, with rails starting at 99p!!

The Royal Wedding Day!

Ok so I might have got a little carried away with the royal do, but why not, I was not the only one! We all got up early, dressed, and ready to watch the wedding.
This dress we a marvellous buy from Jacqueline's shop. I was worried that it was a tad too large at the back but in the end I thought otherwise and loved it so much with the 1940's look, so it is now mine! :D I love how the dress just falls and skims the body, very feminine.
Ok so the brand is Whistles and the shoes are Artigiano. The shoes have a fake buckle fastening on them that has been wrapped around other strips of leather.
Even though we were at home, I just had to dress up, so then the tiara came out!
During the wondrous event I baked some cupcakes with butter icing, which is always a must. With the cakes then covered by thousands of sprinkles, and placed onto a cake stand...made of cardboard! :D
I had my friend over for the afternoon and our neighbour who later joined us for supper.

Overall the wedding day was wonderful with Catherine looking so beautiful, I think I might want that dress!! I thought that a dress like that was so refreshing and a change for the usual 'clone' brides with strapless bodices. Perfect elegance for the perfect lady and perfect figure. The gown would be something I'd love to wear myself...but first need the man...or prince!
Her sister looked wonderful too, showing off her curves with Harry looking longingly.
Camille looked fabulous and I also tend to think that she always does it what was the perfect cut and showed her style to perfection.
Another which I thought looked lovely was Samantha Cameron who was slated in the papers for not wearing a hat! But she didn't need one at all, perfect and simple.

Home alone..

Got woken up early today as parents were off to the antique centre in Wells, so mother thought it was a good idea to wake me in my deep sleep..how dare she!!
But was probably good in the end as was due at Halbrooke house health spa.
Drove to the appointment which was at 12, just about made it! Thank you TOM TOM!! I so wish I could be there all day, going to the pool, sauna etc and wish I had the money to go to the health treatments all the time..if only..
As soon as I returned home I tried to be good and went straight to work...well first there is lunch..(most important!!)

Anyway back to the outfit, I thought I'd better go for something comfortable and what better than a maxi dress. Its a Cath Kidson dress and has so much fabric and pockets!! I do have a love that when garments have pockets in they will be bought! Mainly ones that our slouchy not the anoying decorative ones that our even too high to put your hands into.
Anyway the cardi you have seen previously and the shoes. So today was more of a comfortable day but with a touch of summer!

Mother came back from work and as the royal wedding is tomorrow bought a massive flag and is at this very moment currently hanging outside her window.
Actually I have to admit i'm extremely excited about the wedding..wondering who is designing it etc etc.
So tomorrow will be glued to the Tv but with a touch of British tea and homemade cakes...yum!
So early night then and up early for the royal day!!!

Preparation for the evening ahead

Today has been cleaning day..getting ready for our dinner evening with friends. I'm cooking so hopefully everyone will be alive at the end of it!
I'm wearing the same jeans as Sunday as they are so comfortable and a great fit, the cream is an old Topshop and a Elle cardigan which I bought last week. I love the colour and the strips. My shoes are called 'Fashion' (how ironic)
I went to Castle Cary to get some last minute food bits for tonight and also popped into my favourite clothes shop called Jacqueline's, with new/second hand clothes that are really good quality and she seems to have so many things in my size! There was also a little antique shop up town, and I bought two old books for a sketchbook or to use as a collection file for University. Also some small old false flowers to make headbands with for the festival.
It is such a small but pretty town with a little book store there which I love having a browse through. Local produce foods that have amazing fresh homemade pies/quiches/salads, all with that organic feel.

The Evening

The evening consisted of three friends of ours, started with our neighbours who are a couple and the other chap was a friend of my parents whom they met as there French lessons. But funny thing was that they were all younger than my parents...sort of my generation but a little older. I swear that my parents are 20 year olds on the inside. In a rush to get ready as I was cooking part of the main course (OH DEAR!) time run out and was concerned about being too smart as it is in my house you have feeling of wanting to be in your PJ's (but not that far)
So starting with a dress but I really couldn't bear wearing tights (as our way of keeping warm is 'layers', parents do not seem to believe in heating, or maybe COST!!) So I wore these stunning bright blue cords which are..wait for it...Victoria Beckham. I was a bit shocked when I bought them but they are surprisingly nice! Got them at the dress agency that I mentioned this morning. Shoes are the same as during the day, with the same under top. For the over top it is Miss Selfridges. I seem to have allot of this brand apart from vintage.
My earrings are from Monsoon. I did have a faze of massive earrings but now I think it has moved on too earrings..as you can tell..
So everybody loved that meal..thank goodness! So full after it, oh how I do miss home meals! The last guest did not leave until midnight..which is late for us...

Flea Market at Shepton Mallet...as a land girl..ish

An early start for the Rogers family today with weather being indecisive in the early hours so I went for high waisted jeans as the weather could heat up and I really couldn't bear wearing tights. Then it transformed into this land girl look, of which I love! Right I guess I'd better describe 'the look'. The jeans were from a job lot of clothes that got given to mother by a friend, with a Topshop cream top. The purple shirt is an old Ben Sherman that I tied at the bottom with just a few buttons done up.
The shoes are from a dress agency in Somerton called FootGlove. I love the colour of them, and I seem to wear alot of it even eye make-up! Then a simple silk scarf around my hair, that takes alot of effect and time to pin up THIS MANE! And last but not least the sunglasses are Gucci...fabulous...darling!!
Then this last picture is just a little bit of fun!! :)

Woke up at 6:30am...how glorious on a Sunday morning! To arrive at the fair at 8:30ish (it didn't actually take that long to get there as it only takes 10 minutes door to door) I drove in my own divine car aka RUBY (guess what colour?)
Moving back to the fair the image you are now seeing above is my stall all unpacked and loaded to create this! I hope you like it so, as it is not exactly amazing but I think it is quirky!
Handbags at the back with two rails of clothes on each side of the stall, all with spring/summer clothes. The dummy (I know the professional name is mannequin but that how I've always known it as) I changed at random times to show different garments that I have for sale.

A close up of one of my bags, and I draped a necklace over the top. I've done the same for the rest of my display. I like to think that it give it character.

My little stand right in front of my clothes full of jewellery, sunglasses, belts and the most gorgeous shoes! I placed a mirror in front of the rail as the public do need to admire what they are wearing.

My darling father on his stall...

...and a section of mother's stall. The lovely easter display with a tall sign with mother's details on the top row, and the 'appy easter' was due too mother losing
the 'h'

An overall of the inside of the market (excuse the water bottle in the centre of the picture...if you like it could be there on purpose :))
The building is quite large including a top floor landing section all the way round. Also outside stalls....

...who were very lucky as the weather turned out well..but not so good for us indoor people...why oh why didn't it rain!

This as you can see was the end of the day...

..but at least these yummy easter treats cheered us up!

Abbotsham Swanery

Well today was not planned but still another lovely day in such glorious weather!
So for the outfit I started with these fabulous pair of Roberto Cavalli crops which is part of a jacket combination. Bought last year at a French market last holiday. I have never worn it together as I thought it could be too matching.
To place onto my top half I went for one of my favourite tops that always helps me when in need, from Monsoon.
I always tend to end up mixing vintage/designer with high street.

Moving on from my attire, the day started off with some more festival buying after being stuck in a ruddy traffic jam for an hour. NOT EVEN IN A MAIN ROAD...just a country lane...ok so now I've got distracted...the clothes we saw were most interesting, with items being £1 a piece.
They were not vintage as such but from the man we visited's son old company. The clothes had a vintage style to them with odd mixing fabrics together, and unique shapes. I do wish they were in different sizes as whoever is that size will think that it is heaven!!

With the ruddy traffic jam making time run out as there is never enough minutes during the day.
We decided to go the Swanery near us as the weather was gorgeous!
Once walking round, I've never seen so many swans in my life! With the glorious amounts of lambs everywhere made you really feel spring had started.

For the evening I took a friend of mine to the Octagon theatre in Yeovil to see Ha Ha Holmes! Which was brilliantly funny, with the occasional cheesy but brilliant moments...Ben Langley is a true genius!

A very sunny day out in Totness

As the day was most glorious the family and I decided to take a trip to Totness, which was most glorious! But more on that day on my vintage blog.
So then onto the outfit, (I'm sorry if I'm a bit too far away as mother is not very good on the technology front) the skirt is a original 1950's. I'm loving these 50's skirt at the moment as they are feminine and in this ones case has a massive amount of fabric, so comfortable. With the rest of the outfit i'm wearing a Paul & Jo top which has buttons down the front and a ribbon tie at the back.
The cardigan was originally my mother's....but that changed...
The bag is vintage Gucci, and one that I found in my room in a hurry!
Sunglasses are my mother's as well (Roberto Cavalli) oh dear I didn't realise how much of what I wear was 'borrowed' from Mother!
She does not mind....I hope....

Getting the legs out!

Today started out a very sunny day, so I thought lets try and show some leg.
After having a massive sort out of clothes the night before I found this vintage cardigan by Mary Farrin. I forgot how much I loved it last year.
The top I found at the Yeovil car boot sale on Sunday. I love the easy relax fit of the top making it very feminine.
To finish the outfit off is a pair of Topshop shorts and my very old but classic peach pumps.

In the morning I saw some old friends of mine which was lovely and afterwards me and mother went to my favourite little dress agency in wells. So there is me trying on some few buys. I didn't buy the outfit you are seeing me wear, but that blue dress hanging up is the one bought..it is an amazing dress...and shop of course!!

Yeovil car boot sale

My choice of wear for this money making day: Miss Selfridge dress and a vintage Sophie Bonnet jacket of which was purchased at France, one of my favourites as it is great for spring time.
Such great weather for having a stall, with rows upon rows of stall holders. We arrived around 11ish in the morning with a large queue developing to get in. Typical Rogers family always never exactly early, but we got there and what a great day it was!
It did get rather hot, and as I was not exactly dressed for summer, but it is a car boot so you can buy another outfit! Me and mother bought loads of clothes in job lots from people getting ready for taking a stall at the Glastonbury festival (So excited about that!) but anyway I managed to get a free straw sunhat, which saved me from the sun, and a 50p bracelet. Oh bargains how I love them so!

Here are my little bargain pieces. I would put more up but might end up a rather long blog.

My beautiful dress that I bought, originally for the festival but then I tried it on and things changed.
Great for those summer evenings and makes me look like I've actually got boobs!
