The BBC at Wells

Up and early and off to Wells for a day of cameras in our faces!
My parents thought it would be fun If I would come along to witness this fine event.
At about 11ish the (I think) Scottish BB2 film crew (a small section of them) came long to our shop and chatted to us for a bit before commencing. They wanted to create a natural environment on the show, so they hid the Tv frontman aka antique dealer away. But when he came into the shop and started filming I'm not going to lie he was attractive...even mother liked him.
It was very amusing seeing my mother and father getting mic up!

After the BBC finished I went to get a short noticed hair cut as I have not had my hair cut in ages! It is always strange having my hair with someone new as they always take one look at my hair and think 'shit this is going to be a loooooonnng job' As i swear my hair seems to get bigger just for them. Also i had a Princess Diaries moment when Anne Hathaway gets her hair brushed in the transformation scene and it brakes...that was me...well it didn't actually brake but it took a while to brush!

I bought this outfit at WooHoo vintage at Shepton Mallet. The outfit was hung together and it looked so good together so I thought why not buy the whole thing. Also I'm loving long skirts right now so my collection is rather large! I'm not sure on the brand but It had this handmade quality about it, with the skirt feeling a little like furniture fabric. The top buttons at the back with two bows at the front. The shoes are my favourite and I bought them from Street a month ago called Jane Shilton.

mY biRtHday!!

So today is the day that I get a year older....19....and yes I know for some people that is not old but to be honest I still feel 13! Everything is moving so fast!!....ok reading this I really sound like a tad of a complainer....
Anyway got up early to open the gifts which were lovely, and of course a lot of them is through the process of I choose and 'mysteriously disappear' which I think is a brilliant method as you get exactly what you wanted! Very practical!
www.holbrookhouse.co.uk
So for my glorious day I went to Halbrooke house with my good friend to treat ourselves. I drove my good pal to the spa with the music playing loud...(good music of course not the music that these young people play..far too gangster!)  For the morning we went straight to the pool...well actually the jacuzzi. I think we were properly youngest there but not to be fooled there was some lovely men working there, so that helped!
Lunch was marvellous..I would explain what I had but to be honest I'm really not too sure. Well it was very healthy, full of vegetables..let leave it at that. I would have loved to have done crazy and ordered a glass of champagne but as we are so group up (both drivers) we thought better not!
Another treat to ourselves was a lovely spa treatment each. I got the rejuvenation facial as university has taken its toll, and my lovely pal got a pedicure.
We got back from the spa with my mother buying another fish for our pond (she is addicted!)

A selection of shops around Shepton mallet

The layout and the colour of the shop has a vintage Biba feel about it looking like some vintage underground nightclub. Apart from it being very small the shop has got some really good stock!

No21 Interior Antiques
The owner of the store originally was the owner of the old Somerton antique centre of which my mother rented a space.
The centre was full of beautiful interiors starting from the front right to the back.

Somerset Antiques & Interiors

This was the beautiful shop that had the most sweetest display out of all of them, with the walls in pale vintage blue, covered in vintage lace. Alot of her items were handmade pieces made from recycled fabrics, buttons etc

Another sunny day at Yeovil car boot sale.

Today got to a stressed start as the house is already a tip from moving out of university halls to home. I really did not notice how much there is! So getting ready was with great difficulty as I kept swearing from tripping up on myself. We took two cars, mine and my mother's, for the amount of left over stuff from the festival. With a table and floor full of tops and a rail for dresses. This was my section as I'm normally left with the easiest/cheapest as my maths is not up to brilliant so we wouldn't want anything good to go cheap!
The day went well, but some people really fussy with pricing. But any who we still need somehow to shift this bloody shock we have left over!

My chosen 5 second outfit (well whatever was on the floor!) consisted of topshop shorts, charity shop H&M top, Jimmy choo shoes, and Gucci sunglasses. With the labels it sounds like I've planned it but really they were on the floor...thats reminds me..NEVER leave Gucci sunglasses on the floor!

A productive day!.....well sort of...

Today we planned to go sorting out crazy but....didn't happen. We thought shopping would be much more ideal! As father was in the antique centre we decided to go off just mother and me. Bless the old man but sometimes its nice too be with the girls.
Our day started off in Shepton Mallet looking at the really interesting antique/vintage shops. There was one that was set out so beautifully, with the shop painted in pale vintage blues and covered in lace. Quirky handmade pieces surrounded the store. It really but a smile to your face, with its french vibe.
The second shop was a vintage shop called WooHoo Vintage. That was a tad on the small size but if you want to find out more about the shops go into my next blog:
Then we headed to Street for another shopping spree, bumping into my good friends mother and brother on the way.

For today's wear I wore a River Island maxi dress with my gorgeous Jimmy Choo's!

Glastonbury Festival!

Wow, what a weekend it was with the most interesting weather, I've seen at the festival so far.

First day back at University

I have to say being back was a bit odd, mainly feeding yourself and not being in your own room. But at the same time it feels like we've never left.
At about 10 I went with a friend to she a student house with her then at 2pm off to have my uni crit for our easter work.
I think I'm probably worried that the teachers will read my blogs. (how scary!)
For the evening as it was my good uni friend's birthday last week we went to slug and lettuce for a meal. I think there was about 10 of us from our course there. Lovely time as great to catch up after easter.

Sorry about the room, as I said..first day back...

Anyway back to what I was wearing, as again..weather?? does not make up its mind! (Also excuse the terrible photo but when your on your own..this thing just can't happen) So I went for these amazing jeans called Huao, which again I've never heard of, I think its another second hand shop find.
My H&M women face tee, and again with the cardi (I wear this too much)
I wore my lovely orange ring which goes perfectly with my nail polish. Others noticed, but honestly it was not planned!

Elle Fanning: Rodarte's Film

I found this short film in last months Tatler and thought to check it out.
After watching the film I found it so extraordinary, a completely different take on fashion creating a new further for fashion. It felt like a beginning to actual movie on the big screen.
Elle Fanning was cast as the lead role for this, and I think was perfect, it is hard to think that she is only 12/13 years old when it was made.
I love how you can see that clothes change while she moves from one room to another, showing their beautiful collection.

Christina Hendricks for Vivienne Westwood

Here is Vivienne Westwood's jewellery line which I find really beautiful and its great that she has used Christina perfect for the advertising. A great icon and a stunning woman.

The last full day of the Easter holiday

So....today consisted of doing the finishing touches to my university work, and of course 'trying' to pack for university which is not going well.
It seems very much an effort to get started as typical me I do not pack lightly so coming back to university expect about....5 cars to help!!

My wear today consists of a silk scarf top by Liberty. The top has a raw edge around the bottom, which makes it look handmade.
I love how simply it is made and inspires me to make many for the festival with lots of beautiful scarves in all colours!
I pared it with some short short and tights..i never thought i'd be wearing them again but it was not warm today.

Home Alone..part 2

I was planning a no make-up day today but failed as I woke up (which was extremely late) to find a strange man is our garden only to realise that it was our gardener. It just shows that my parents tell me everything.
After my scare of the day that I was not alone, work continued all day.

Even though it was not exactly beautiful outside it was quite muggy and as I was inside all day. So I placed an amazing T-shirt on moi by Vivienne Westwood. Its a special Marmite top with the union jack on it. It is really crazy tee but i love it as I do love marmite so!!
My shorts are from Whistles another great buy as they are baggy and have that slouchy feel, with large pockets too (a bonus!)
...and the hair...don't ask....

Voting day!!

Mother had a stressful day with sorting out her stock for the Shepton Mallet antique fair which goes on all weekend:
It is held at the same place as the flea market at the Bath & West show ground.
It is one of there largest events as it covers four buildings instead of one.
As for me continuing with work and of course helping the stressful mother of mine.
But also not forgetting the voting day, and my first ever time in doing so! Have to admit was quite excited! Even though the voting place was not in a crowed village but a pretty one at that!

I took on the more casual look today as was at home and I thought the dogs looked fat so took them for a walk!
moving back to what I wore. The large jumper was going to be given to my father from my mother but me and mother thought he has enough jumpers so  that was the end of that story. :D
My necklace is from a good friend of mine as a little reminder of our time at last years festival. It is a little wellington boot with a pearl (very country)
The shoes remind me of pixi shoes full of sparkle with blues and greens.

A day out for lunch

As a lovely treat my parents took me to my favourite little cafe/restaurant near Ilchester. But its no ordinary cafe as its in in a old railway carriage. It is most sweet, and the food is vegetarian and is so delicious! All homemade containing quiches, salads, tarts and cakes. I had this fennel crumble which was divine! At the front they have an organic shop full of amazing foods, and homegrown veg.
(I always seem to be taking about food a lot in all my blogs!)

Anyway down to what I wore was another one of my favourite blazers, a Rena Lange. (not sure on the brand, might have to look up) I think I found it at a second hand clothes shop down in Devon.
The jeans are gap as on Tuesday, and my wedges are Kanna (probably another second hand shop find!)

..and for yoga...

I have not been for a while and felt quite bad so thought I'd go.
I know its not the most professional yoga gear, but I just wanted to be comfy..mainly for the relaxation part!!
My crop bottoms are Casall from the sale. They are a great brand for sports wear that is not chav central! My purple top is from Topshop with a simple black wrap around, as the little village hall can get cold at times.
For my shoes they are those strange fitflops that are suppose to tone you up..not sure if it works but we'll see..

A good pal over for tea

Today was going to be a home alone day but as a last minute turn around I thought I'll have a old friend round. As I've been very bad not seeing her at all since Christmas, you I think I owe her.
So as you can see I was going to be staying at home all day just chilling with my good pal, taking my small rat size dogs out for a stroll in a random field.
The weather has been a bit odd (traditional british weather) so I choice my boot cut gap jeans. I normally go for skinny's but I like the comfy fit on these. Also I rolled them up a bit.
My tee is a vintage number from Glastonbury and the brand is people tree/fair trade. I think its a perfect for the festival!

Milverton Street Fair!

The fair today happens once a year on a bank holiday and we have always gone to the lovely event. A distant relation of my father's and moi of course lives there and sells interiors at the fair.
http://www.milvertonstreetfair.org.uk/
As today was rather cold so I thought of my lovely Victoria Beckham corduroy trousers. The 99p T-shirt (yes 99p!) was from the charity shop Barnardos on the Saturday out in Taunton. It has a bow/ribbon shape around the next line, and I like the fact it does not have the childish neckline. The Jacket was mothers (borrowed) and is a Paul Costelloe Dressage jacket. It is a simple/stylish number that seems to help when in need. My shoes you have seen before called fashion (yes really) are full of beads, but unfortunately the main ones fell off so trying to find flat circle shaped gems is not easy.

A lovely stall run by a lovely hippy couple of which parents are friends with. Ad you can probably see they have a selection of Glastonbury style clothes..so as you can guess me and mother bought more for the festival!

Don't worry I did not wake up with blue paint on my face at the end of the day I got the art work done. I was probably the only 18 year getting one (I feel so old!) but anyway who cares its only a bit of fun, and cost me £1.50. I think during the festival I'll be getting a lot of these done.

Frock exchange!

When walking around Taunton with my good friend I spotted this advert outside the charity shop.
It does look like fun, except the last frock exchange I went to was not very well planned as me and mother were bringing in good clothes (designer names) and then others brought clothes that seemed to have belonged in their wardrobe all there life or worn to death. So lucky day for them but not for us.
Hopefully this one will be better! As its a great way to get some fresh (well) clothes into your wardrobe!

The marvellous showstudio.com

http://showstudio.com/

A website of which I always seem to go, with its amazing visuals and films.
I love the films by Nick Knight, and used them previously for my college film project last year.

This one film was created in 2009 and used it as inspiration for my film project. It is fairly simple in terms of graphics but I love the use of light and movement within the model dancing. Showing off the garments in movement.

A day out in Taunton (originally my birthplace)

Off to see my university friend for the day, which included a trip to a car boot sale that was not planned but was a bit off fun. Bought more items for the festival including a job lot of sparkly headbands, wellies (very important) and cupcakes (not again!)

We then went into town and instead of wondering about the main part of the town. We wondered over a bridge and into the part of the town I like to call the charity shop lane/street. As you can guess it so full of charity shops!
Some expensive (for some crazy reason..how dare they!) and some with brilliant bargains. One in particular was Banardos, with rails starting at 99p!!

The Royal Wedding Day!

Ok so I might have got a little carried away with the royal do, but why not, I was not the only one! We all got up early, dressed, and ready to watch the wedding.
This dress we a marvellous buy from Jacqueline's shop. I was worried that it was a tad too large at the back but in the end I thought otherwise and loved it so much with the 1940's look, so it is now mine! :D I love how the dress just falls and skims the body, very feminine.
Ok so the brand is Whistles and the shoes are Artigiano. The shoes have a fake buckle fastening on them that has been wrapped around other strips of leather.
Even though we were at home, I just had to dress up, so then the tiara came out!
During the wondrous event I baked some cupcakes with butter icing, which is always a must. With the cakes then covered by thousands of sprinkles, and placed onto a cake stand...made of cardboard! :D
I had my friend over for the afternoon and our neighbour who later joined us for supper.

Overall the wedding day was wonderful with Catherine looking so beautiful, I think I might want that dress!! I thought that a dress like that was so refreshing and a change for the usual 'clone' brides with strapless bodices. Perfect elegance for the perfect lady and perfect figure. The gown would be something I'd love to wear myself...but first need the man...or prince!
Her sister looked wonderful too, showing off her curves with Harry looking longingly.
Camille looked fabulous and I also tend to think that she always does it what was the perfect cut and showed her style to perfection.
Another which I thought looked lovely was Samantha Cameron who was slated in the papers for not wearing a hat! But she didn't need one at all, perfect and simple.

Home alone..

Got woken up early today as parents were off to the antique centre in Wells, so mother thought it was a good idea to wake me in my deep sleep..how dare she!!
But was probably good in the end as was due at Halbrooke house health spa.
Drove to the appointment which was at 12, just about made it! Thank you TOM TOM!! I so wish I could be there all day, going to the pool, sauna etc and wish I had the money to go to the health treatments all the time..if only..
As soon as I returned home I tried to be good and went straight to work...well first there is lunch..(most important!!)

Anyway back to the outfit, I thought I'd better go for something comfortable and what better than a maxi dress. Its a Cath Kidson dress and has so much fabric and pockets!! I do have a love that when garments have pockets in they will be bought! Mainly ones that our slouchy not the anoying decorative ones that our even too high to put your hands into.
Anyway the cardi you have seen previously and the shoes. So today was more of a comfortable day but with a touch of summer!

Mother came back from work and as the royal wedding is tomorrow bought a massive flag and is at this very moment currently hanging outside her window.
Actually I have to admit i'm extremely excited about the wedding..wondering who is designing it etc etc.
So tomorrow will be glued to the Tv but with a touch of British tea and homemade cakes...yum!
So early night then and up early for the royal day!!!

Preparation for the evening ahead

Today has been cleaning day..getting ready for our dinner evening with friends. I'm cooking so hopefully everyone will be alive at the end of it!
I'm wearing the same jeans as Sunday as they are so comfortable and a great fit, the cream is an old Topshop and a Elle cardigan which I bought last week. I love the colour and the strips. My shoes are called 'Fashion' (how ironic)
I went to Castle Cary to get some last minute food bits for tonight and also popped into my favourite clothes shop called Jacqueline's, with new/second hand clothes that are really good quality and she seems to have so many things in my size! There was also a little antique shop up town, and I bought two old books for a sketchbook or to use as a collection file for University. Also some small old false flowers to make headbands with for the festival.
It is such a small but pretty town with a little book store there which I love having a browse through. Local produce foods that have amazing fresh homemade pies/quiches/salads, all with that organic feel.

The Evening

The evening consisted of three friends of ours, started with our neighbours who are a couple and the other chap was a friend of my parents whom they met as there French lessons. But funny thing was that they were all younger than my parents...sort of my generation but a little older. I swear that my parents are 20 year olds on the inside. In a rush to get ready as I was cooking part of the main course (OH DEAR!) time run out and was concerned about being too smart as it is in my house you have feeling of wanting to be in your PJ's (but not that far)
So starting with a dress but I really couldn't bear wearing tights (as our way of keeping warm is 'layers', parents do not seem to believe in heating, or maybe COST!!) So I wore these stunning bright blue cords which are..wait for it...Victoria Beckham. I was a bit shocked when I bought them but they are surprisingly nice! Got them at the dress agency that I mentioned this morning. Shoes are the same as during the day, with the same under top. For the over top it is Miss Selfridges. I seem to have allot of this brand apart from vintage.
My earrings are from Monsoon. I did have a faze of massive earrings but now I think it has moved on too earrings..as you can tell..
So everybody loved that meal..thank goodness! So full after it, oh how I do miss home meals! The last guest did not leave until midnight..which is late for us...

Flea Market at Shepton Mallet...as a land girl..ish

An early start for the Rogers family today with weather being indecisive in the early hours so I went for high waisted jeans as the weather could heat up and I really couldn't bear wearing tights. Then it transformed into this land girl look, of which I love! Right I guess I'd better describe 'the look'. The jeans were from a job lot of clothes that got given to mother by a friend, with a Topshop cream top. The purple shirt is an old Ben Sherman that I tied at the bottom with just a few buttons done up.
The shoes are from a dress agency in Somerton called FootGlove. I love the colour of them, and I seem to wear alot of it even eye make-up! Then a simple silk scarf around my hair, that takes alot of effect and time to pin up THIS MANE! And last but not least the sunglasses are Gucci...fabulous...darling!!
Then this last picture is just a little bit of fun!! :)

Woke up at 6:30am...how glorious on a Sunday morning! To arrive at the fair at 8:30ish (it didn't actually take that long to get there as it only takes 10 minutes door to door) I drove in my own divine car aka RUBY (guess what colour?)
Moving back to the fair the image you are now seeing above is my stall all unpacked and loaded to create this! I hope you like it so, as it is not exactly amazing but I think it is quirky!
Handbags at the back with two rails of clothes on each side of the stall, all with spring/summer clothes. The dummy (I know the professional name is mannequin but that how I've always known it as) I changed at random times to show different garments that I have for sale.

A close up of one of my bags, and I draped a necklace over the top. I've done the same for the rest of my display. I like to think that it give it character.

My little stand right in front of my clothes full of jewellery, sunglasses, belts and the most gorgeous shoes! I placed a mirror in front of the rail as the public do need to admire what they are wearing.

My darling father on his stall...

...and a section of mother's stall. The lovely easter display with a tall sign with mother's details on the top row, and the 'appy easter' was due too mother losing
the 'h'

An overall of the inside of the market (excuse the water bottle in the centre of the picture...if you like it could be there on purpose :))
The building is quite large including a top floor landing section all the way round. Also outside stalls....

...who were very lucky as the weather turned out well..but not so good for us indoor people...why oh why didn't it rain!

This as you can see was the end of the day...

..but at least these yummy easter treats cheered us up!

Abbotsham Swanery

Well today was not planned but still another lovely day in such glorious weather!
So for the outfit I started with these fabulous pair of Roberto Cavalli crops which is part of a jacket combination. Bought last year at a French market last holiday. I have never worn it together as I thought it could be too matching.
To place onto my top half I went for one of my favourite tops that always helps me when in need, from Monsoon.
I always tend to end up mixing vintage/designer with high street.

Moving on from my attire, the day started off with some more festival buying after being stuck in a ruddy traffic jam for an hour. NOT EVEN IN A MAIN ROAD...just a country lane...ok so now I've got distracted...the clothes we saw were most interesting, with items being £1 a piece.
They were not vintage as such but from the man we visited's son old company. The clothes had a vintage style to them with odd mixing fabrics together, and unique shapes. I do wish they were in different sizes as whoever is that size will think that it is heaven!!

With the ruddy traffic jam making time run out as there is never enough minutes during the day.
We decided to go the Swanery near us as the weather was gorgeous!
Once walking round, I've never seen so many swans in my life! With the glorious amounts of lambs everywhere made you really feel spring had started.

For the evening I took a friend of mine to the Octagon theatre in Yeovil to see Ha Ha Holmes! Which was brilliantly funny, with the occasional cheesy but brilliant moments...Ben Langley is a true genius!
